This is Love

’Tis the mind’s questioning that maketh love’s end,
For time alone doth conjoin heart and head a-quiet -
As the heart’s soft voice wilt then speaketh to the mind:
This is love.

’Tis the lilting of the lovestruck voice to its paramour
That doth render yon songbirds silent on their perch,
And catch the ear in unfettered talons of sweet praise:
This is love.

’Tis the nematon where mind and emotion fain stay
And doth collaborate for soul’s peace and body’s rest -
All in which reside the hope, the last rose of summer:
This is love.
