My Greatest Compliment
by sally walker
He holds me close and I draw my face next to his skin,
I smell its warmth covered with the scent of Armani.
He is my protector.
His arms powerful, yet comforting
As his hands find the slight dip in the small of my back
That is so familiar to him.
I lay with my head on his chest
And listen to the beat of his heart.
The rhythmic pounding of it
Sends me into reflections of the last four months
And the impact that one individual soul had on another.
My soul has been transformed
In a way that I never knew existed.
Through new eyes I see the world. I see colors that
Were created just for me by love.
I breathe, smell, taste and I am just for love.
Without him, I can never be.
But for him I will always be.
He is my rock as I am his.
A pillar of strength and understanding.
A compassionate word and a kind face.
A loving hand and a tender kiss.
He is my light, the sweetest sentiment, and
My greatest compliment.
