Awaiting Princess
by Greg
You sit in the tower waiting, looking Could this be the day he returns? The fog is heavy and thick You can barely see beyond the gates.
The only sounds are of birds and An occassional wagon on the road You sit and wait, hoping, praying Your heart longing to see me, To look into my blue eyes.
Suddenly, you hear the sounds of hooves, Could this be it? Are you imagining it Like so many times before?
You gaze through the fog trying Desperarately to penetrate the thick fog Your heart starts pounding, Your palms sweating.
Then, yes, YES, it is me As I approach on my horse, You see me sitting so proud and tall For I have returned, returned to my True Love and Passion.
You leap up from your seat You start running down the steps of the Tower, your beautiful gown flowing Behind you, your lovely blond hair Floating in the breeze behind you.
As you are running, you are calling out In your Angelic voice, "Raise the gate, Raise the gate, lower the bridge, Lower the bridge."
As you reach the courtyard, your heart Pounding like it would burst, I stop My horse and dismount. Am I as you remember?
My armour is not the shinest, My horse not the whitest, My sword not of the hardest metal. But my heart is the strongest, My soul the fullest of Love for you.
You run up to me, your eyes still the Greenest in the kingdom, your Heart the strongest, The love for me the purest in the land. For You are My Princess and I, your Prince.
Your gown may not be the whitest, Your hair not the longest in the land But your heart is mine, as mine is yours
I dismount and remove my helmet You look, YES, YES, his eyes are still The bluest, his smile The warmest in the land.
As I take you up into my arms, I look into your eyes -- yes they are The greenest in the land I can feel your heart pounding as I Hold you tight, tight against my armour.
We kiss passionately and with desire As we break our kiss, I wipe the tears From your beautiful face A face I have dreamed about nightly A word has yet to be spoken, none Are truly necessary.
We walk hand in hand into the castle I have been gone way to long But I will go to the ends of the earth For you, whether to defend your honor or To bring you a small token of My love for you.
But I am never far from home as long As our Love for each other Never, never leaves our hearts.
