You Are Gone
by Revathy Raghu
I watch the flowing water,
Glazed by the moonlit sky,
I close my eyes and hear,
The soft murmur of the water gushing by.
I open my eyes to look at you...
Laying there deep in sleep.
Then suddenly, I knew...
What I should have known all along.
Yes, I loved you... ever since the day
You walked right into my wretched life.
And then all I wanted was to cry,
For the beauty and waste of it all.
I memorized the exquisite features
Of your placid face,
And locked it up
In the safest depth of my heart.
And now that you are gone..
I wonder...
Why there is such terrible pain...
In losing something which was never gained.
