The Marriage of Little Owl

She stood in her blanket and her deerskin gown
Beneath the tree's of wood
A blue coloured blanket round her shoulders laid
As she looked for him as she stood
He came to her runnin oer the hill
A present was in his hand
And upon his dagger drawn from his sheath
They promised there vows to stand
A warbler was singing in the tree
A hawk was high in the air
Happy was he and happy was she
As they stood together there
He held her close in his arms embrace
Their eyes and lips did meet
He looked down upon her lovely face
And his heart did faster beat
The clouds flew over the mountain crest
The spray was flicking the sea
She drew him close to her throbbin heart
A prisoner for always to be
They went to the Chief when it came the day
And on the holy belt they did take
He was in his finest regalia
He was bright and full of joy
And their vows they both did make
She stood at his side so bright and fair
Her fingers fair to give
The Chief wedded them then and there
And then blessed them long to live
Oh Great Grandfather give the joy
And Great Grandfather give the love
To them who are lovers true
Shed down your blessings from above
As in one are joined the two
