Started out slow,
Awkward and shy.
Then it just hit me,
You were my guy.
Days grew to weeks;
Weeks turned to months.
Everything was perfect,
All love and no lust.
Feelings were deep,
So real and so true.
Then, the day came
When I had to leave you.
Tears fell for days
Decisions to make,
And in the end
'Twas my heart to break.
In that last hour
I clinged to you tight.
For the first in so long,
My feelings I'd fight.
After I was gone,
Feeling so far away,
Strong longings to hold you
Told me I should have stayed.
My guy is now hers
To have and to hold.
While I'm all alone
In my bedroom so cold.
Why didn't I listen
To my feelings of heart?
Could it be different?
Us never to part?
