Poem For Alan

She gave her heart to one she thought true
And it only made her sad and blue
Her love unsurpassed was all in vain
But each new day brought her hope
That he may understand the scope
And maybe even feel the same
He says he does but she can’t tell
His actions betray his soothing spell

He doesn’t have the heart to say
There is no way that they can stay
The promises are all too many
Keeping them is just not possible
She feels this is understandable
But years go by and she just cries
For now she sees it was not meant to be
And wishes that it had been easier to see

As she sits all alone each night
Sitting by her computer waiting
Hoping to get just a little of his time
But time he has for all but her
And hurt and anger begin to stir
Too late, too late the trust has gone
Resentment now will take it’s place
As a thousand tears run down her face
