The Tide No More Does Toil
by Jay Miller
The tide no more does toil
The sun will shine no more
You were lying in my arms
You were life and death, my all
As you softly wept, tears
Upon my chest were spilt
I summoned unfound strength
And raised my eyes to thine
As truth broke through the fog
I saw, even angels need to cry
The blade of sorrow had been plunged
Mortal terror inflicting hurt.
Your eyes held mine, but for a moment
Rejection took its reign
As love strengthened for its quest
The waves were beating strong
Blackened clouds of conquest
Rolled or the gentle plains
Love in its final act
Was trying to retreat
But was so deeply castled,
My heart was torn and rent
As amour slowly lowered
Humbly in defeat
The clouds have now moved on
To plunder some sweet plan
The waves no longer beat
Upon this rocky, barren land
But the rose no longer brings
A twinkling smile to our face
And our bodies no more are wrapped
Within the moons embrace
The joy that only lovers know
Is a stranger to these walls
But the love that could not die
Is starting to replace
The fear n shame
The lost n pain
That played upon our face
