What started out as a revengeful retreat
I tried my hardest to keep it discrete
Both in relationships with mine in a mess
Betrayal, dishonestly, with nothing but stress
I knew in the beginning friends is all wed be
I never thought of anything more and Im sure youd agree
After all the years of hurt, my relationship has finally ended
But falling for you was never intended
I never thought of how the situation could turn
When Id be free of my burden you were never a concern
The peace Ive found and the smiles back on my face
All those bad memories I have happily erased
Now Im a little scared and dont know what to do
I find myself often thinking of you
How could this happen?
Where is the answer to my question?
You must have left me with quite an impression
It wasnt your Car, Jewelry or money
It wasnt your Christmas gift that leaves me feeling funny
Intelligence, style and the family values you posses
Your sense of humor and personality never the less
Im single now and friends we will remain
Anything more Ill surely restrain
You arent mine to want
You arent mine to hold
But you are my friend if the truth be told
