I sent it out, the best I had
Carefully wrapped,
Presented with utmost care,
The love I had so carefully guarded
Gently was placed in the currents of life.
But it’s arrival, regarded
As a mishap of fait
Was shrugged off, then slipped
Back into the void.
I can’t live this was forever
My heart stamped “Return to Sender”
