To the brink we danced.
To the edge of infinity,
That couples dance we shared,
And loving times we had.
And for so brief a while
I touched heaven
And filled my life
With an angel.
Dreams and plans returned
And tomorrows seemed endless.
God had blessed me,
And the world smiled and was warm.
And as I remember now
What once was,
And ponder why it is no more,
I still would love to love her.
I would give my life to somehow
Find her happy,
Somewhere, sometime,
Finding sunshine once again.
Trading all my days to see the joy return,
The youth she owns, a blush,
To hear her playful giggle
And to have her hold my lonely hand.
Just once more to spend
A moment in an angel's light
So near to heaven's grace,
Seeing the universe in her eyes.
All I am or ever will be is hers.
