Your Beautiful Eyes
by Maria Bottiglieri
Three o'clock in the morning and still I can't sleep. Weary eyes looking at the unfriendly dark void that shrouds my room;
Still silent darkness and yet, certainly not perfect. For this darkness has your eyes fixed upon me, Searching, enquiring, teasing...
Silence is now my habitual and yet gentle enemy, While in my head a cacophony of sounds is playing a relenteless tune;
Thoughts that come and go disrupting the perfect stilness of the night-
When will I ever sleep undisturbed again? When will I ever stop the un-resting of my heart? When will I ever search in the dark again and not see those beautiful blue eyes that are disquiting my peace?
