I beg you, please don’t tell me,
That you feel that you love me,
For I couldn’t bear to see the pain,
I know that I’d cause thee.
And though I am fond of you,
Your love I can’t return.
I pray, please find another,
For whom your heart can burn.
I do not wish to hurt you,
I hope you know that’s true,
Surely there is someone else,
who’s heart you could pursue?
For though my heart beats in my chest,
It isn’t mine to share,
I lost it to another man,
Who caught me unaware.
I did not mean to hurt you,
With these words I had to say,
And hope to find forgiveness,
From my friend perhaps someday.
