They say you can’t miss what you never had.
Cry over what never happened,
But maybe it’s what you’ll never get
That you’ll miss the most,
What you’ll never get that’ll bring a tear to your eye.
But if we always got everything we wished for,
Would we truly be happy?
Or would it simply be a mask,
To hide the deeper feelings underneath?
Who knows what we really want?
But maybe just one moment with him,
Touching his lips,
Taking him in,
Memorizing his face,
The way he moves,
Holding him against me,
Feeling the steady beat of his heart,
Just for one moment,
No masks,
No lies,
No strings attached,
Would clear things up.
Or perhaps it would confuse me even more…
