Growing Pains
by Melissa Jackson
I am carried like a little lamb
Within my mothers arms.
Who comforts and shields me from alarm
I left my mother for the first time
Walking in a big not familiar place
Halls so long like a road never ending
As the tears rolled down my face
I thought that I would never get home safe
The older I get the less certain I am of things
Neither a little girl nor a teenager
I was sure before but,
I am forever changing such as time
I am baffled, confused
But I am not sure of things anymore
It is the teenage years,
No one knows what the pressure is
Or how is it going to go
Parents yell "keep the grades"
The pressure of fitting in
See it's so tough to be a teenager
But see you really don't have to impress me
I've growen my wings, I want to fly.
I am going mom so please don't cry.
There are dangers, there are fears .
So let me go through my toughest years.
