Someday Soon
by Michael Parker
Well - it's up and down this road again
Will this highway never end
I've been driving this truck for old so long.
It seems like a month or two
Since I last got to hold you
But it's your love for me that keeps me holding on.
But someday soon - you will see
No more late nights for you - waiting on me
For I will have made my final run
And spend more time with you and our son.
Me and this truck - we've seen our days
From New York to L.A.
And what's kept me holding on - is the promise you made
From the very first day.
There are poems and songs about the trucking man
The life he leads and all his friends
But what about his one true love who stays at home
Who without her man - still carries on.
There's not a day that goes by
When I don't stop to think
Just how lucky I am - to have you by my side...
But someday soon - you will see
No more late nights for you - waiting on me
For I will have made my final run
And spend more time with you and our son.
